"I don't make deals, I don't party and drink with sources, and I don't play a game of leaks. I read, I listen, I squirrel information. It's fun."
-- Seymour Hersh, Investigative journalist
"No Lie can live forever."
-- Thomas Carlyle, (December 4 1795 – February 5 1881), Scottish essayist, satirist, and historian
“The true Axis of Evil in America is the genius of our marketing combined with the stupidity of our people."
-- Bill Maher
"Our job is to speak loudly, to speak boldly, to tell the truth, and with the idea that the truth has a power which is very special, and if people keep uttering the truth, the idea will spread and a power will be created that even those who hold the reins... will have to listen."
-- Howard Zinn, November 9, 2007
"It is not necessary to bury the truth. It is sufficient merely to delay it until nobody cares."
-- Attributed to Napoleon Bonaparte (between 1769 and 1821)
Author of Problems With The Solution (New Times cover story, 7/6/2000) In that story, I show how a "better, cheaper, faster" sewer project responsible for forming the Los Osos Community Services District in 1998, was on the verge of failing in late 2000. One month after Problems with the Solution was published, the "better, cheaper, faster" project failed.
Author of Three Blocks Upwind of Downtown (New Times cover story 9/23/04) In that story, I show how, after the "better, cheaper, faster" project failed in 2000, the elected officials responsible for that project made the decision to include an elaborate public park in their second attempt at a sewer project, and how that decision was the only rationale used to lock in the same mid-town location as their failed "better, cheaper, faster" project.
Editor of The Bay Breeze in Los Osos from 1996 - 1999, where I started the original SewerWatch.
Reporter for the The Bay News in Los Osos from 1990 - 1992.
I do not live in Los Osos. (The reason I started this blog in 2005, is because the only local, daily newspaper, The Tribune, refuses to do its job.)
